About Dr. Randall "Randy" Otterholt

Dr. Otterholt grew up in Richland, Washington, where his father was a dentist and his mother was a nurse.

From 1978 to 1982, Dr. Otterholt worked on his Bachelor of Science degree in biology at Pacific Lutheran University and the University of Washington. He continued with his dental training at the University of Washington School of Dentistry, graduating with his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1986.

Always a fan of Eastern Washington, he chose Spokane for his new hometown. He settled in and took over the dental practices of two retiring dentists, Dr. Al Cunningham and Dr. Ted Dill.

Dr. Otterholt maintained his General Dentistry practice for 21 years, until a battle with cancer in 2007 forced him to give up treating his patients.

He is a member of the Spokane District Dental Society, Washington State Dental Society, and American Dental Association. He has served on the local Peer Review board and other committees. He has been awarded the distinguished Fellowship status in the Academy of General Dentistry.

He was recently elected for a second 3-year term as President of the Inland Empire Perio Study Club. He is cofounder of the Spokane Practice Management Study Club, and is involved in other dental study clubs. He has trained students from the SCC Dental Assistant program during their internships. He has donated services and materials to low income dental clinics in Spokane, and in underdeveloped countries.

Dr. Otterholt has a brother (Dana) and sister-in-law (Vicki) who are dentists in Mt. Vernon, Washington, and a niece (Kjersten) who will soon be a dentist..

Dr. Otterholt enjoys traveling, and exploring the wonders of our world with his wife Tracy. He is an avid scuba diver, and often combines this with another hobby, photography. His photographs were frequently admired by his patients at the office. He is still frequently seen at his old hang-out (the dental office) helping out, and saying hello to his old acquaintances.
